CM- Drugs burning ceremony

QUETTA: June 26 is observed as Drugs Day and against its use t the internationally every year. Drugs burning ceremony was held on the occasion at Kach more area by Regional directorate Anti narcotics Force, Frontier Corps Balochistan, Pakistan Railways Police and Excise and Taxation Department.

Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch was the chief guest on the occasion. Commander southern Command Lt General Nasser Khan Janjua, Director ANF Brigadier Adnan Azeem and large number of civil and military officers attended.

Above mentioned agencies by dint of work day and night and putting their lives at stake took actions against drug smugglers and seized narcotics.

Chief Minister lauded their efforts and expressed commitment that menace of narcotics would be eliminated from the province at every cost. He particularly appreciated performance of ANF under the leadership of Brig Adnan Azeem.

Commander AF Balochistan Brig Adnan Azeem in his speech said that one of the most challenging task of Enforcement of ANF Balochistan has bane destruction of Poppy crop. With potent and all out support of FC and District administrations of Loralai and Killa Abdullah, we have been able to destroy more than 90 percent of Poppy cultivation this year. He thanked FC which consistently played a significant role during destruction phase. He said ANF seized 58 tonnes of narcotics during the current year and arrested 38 individuals during the past one year.

It is also mentioned here that ANF and FC in their joint activities destroyed Opium crop over 928.8 acres in Districts of Loralai and Killa Abdullah. ANF during one year conducted 93 successful raids and seized 57.8 tonnes of narcotics and arrested 38 accused.

Seventy four tones of narcotics were burnt at today’s ceremony. It included Opium 24.13 tonnes, Heroin 410 Kg, Morphine 1.45 tonnes, Morphine injections 205995, Cannabis 554 Kg, liquor 7.49 tonnes, 273 bottles of wine and 24 tins of beer.
