Commissioner reviews arrangements for Ashura

KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui on Monday has imposed code of conduct on the eve of Youm-e-Ashur and asked people to keep vigilance on suspected persons and things around.

“The strong cooperation of procession organizers and Ulema with security agencies and administration is a guarantee of security,” he said while on a detailed visit to different areas of the city to review the security, civic and traffic arrangements. The officers of civic and security organizations also accompanied him.

Siddiqui asked the procession organizers to inform the nearest security or administration officer forthright in case any suspected person or thing was found. The Rescue 1299 of Commissioner House or control room number 99203443 could also be contacted.

He said the commissioner control room would remain alert for security and civic issues and officers of Karachi Water & Sewerage Board, K-Electric and police would be available round the clock to the resolve any kind of issues faced by the processions.

The commissioner informed Ulema and the organizers of processions that over 1950 surveillance cameras were installed on different sensitive locations in the city to fully monitor the processions with active and alert staff. While, from the Sindh police further 200 cameras were installed to make the surveillance of the processions more effective.
