KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui on Monday chaired a meeting at his office to review arrangements of flag-hoisting ceremony going to be held at Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum on 14th August, Pakistan Independence Day.
The meeting was told, arrangements had been completed for the ceremony and the Independence Day would be celebrated in a befitting manner. Certificates will be given for the houses on best ornamenting. Martyred, who lost their lives for establishing peace, would be paid tribute on the occasion.
“The series of Independence Day events would start unfolding after Fajr prayer with special supplications for progress, prosperity and peace in the country,” told Deputy Commissioner East Agha Pervez to the meeting.
It was told that the central event of the day would be held at the mausoleum of Founder of Pakistan. Governor Sindh and chief minister Sindh would hoist flag, lay wreath of flowers and offer Fateha at Quaid’s tomb during the event. The members of provincial cabinet, the commissioner Karachi and high officials of armed forces and civil organizations would also be present on the occasion, where students of different schools would present tableaus and nationals songs.
The meeting decided that district administrations would hold the Independence Day events in their districts and help different institutions and organizations in organizing the ceremonies befittingly. It was also decided that decorating buildings should be encouraged by giving certificates. A committee has been formed in this regard under the supervision of Additional Commissioner II Haji Ahmed.
