KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui on Tuesday stressed need to make process of Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC)’s issuance easy for the citizens.
“The citizens are facing trouble in different areas of the city for getting CNIC, therefore NADRA should take measures in this regard and open new centres where needed,” he said while addressing a meeting with Chairman NADRA Usman Mubeen at his office to review issuance of birth and death certificates, issues of registration of foreign refugees and establishment of new centres to address citizens’ complaints.
He said the administration would all-out help NADRA in establishing new centres. The meeting decided to speed registration of foreign refugees by strengthening ties between district administration and NADRA.
The commissioner said committees has been formed under the supervision of deputy commissioners to ensure registration of foreign refugees and all the deputy commissioners should hold monthly meetings in the relevant districts in this regard.
Director General Commercial NADRA Muhammad Javed Director General Operations NADRA Syed Muzaffar, Director General NADRA Karachi Col (retd) Mehmood Iqbal and Director Operations Major (retd) Tanveer Abbas Shah and Assistant Commissioner General Shahzaib Sheikh were also present on the occasion.
