Competition trend among journalists needed

QUETTA: To develop professional skills of journalists trend of competition among them is needed. Award of cash prizes among journalists from Print, Electronic and Online journalists for competition and encouragement is good programme..

This was stated by President Quetta Press Club Shahzada Zulfiqar while addressing opening ceremony of competition among Print, Electronic and Online Journalists by NGO Balochistan Rural Support Programme (BRSP).

Senior Manager BRSP Dr Shah Nawaz Khan, Secretary General QPC Khaleel Ahmed and journalists from other parts of the province attended.

Shah Nawaz Khan told that BRSP and European Union was providing journalists fo Balochistan to prepare videos, radio programme, and reports in the newspapers and online and submit them at the BRSP office so that experts assess first second and third positions.

He said under the programme journalists would be taken on tour of Zhob, Loralai, Khuzdar and Jhal Magsi where they would prepare tv, radio, newspapers and online reports. BRSP would arrange travelling and other facilities for them. Journalists can prepare their Reports by September 2015.

He said after final decision of experts cash prizes and awards would be given to successful journalists. Three prizes each for tv, radio and newspapers would be given. First prize would be Rupees one lakh, second Rupees 50 thousand and third position winner journalist would be given Rupees 25 thousand and award.

President Quetta Press Club said for the first time Journalists are being provided an opportunity. He hoped that that other NGOs and provincial government would also arrange such programmes.
