Consideration of SLG bill differed again

Karachi: Sindh Assembly here on Monday once again differed the consideration of the Sindh Local Government (Amendment) Bill 2015.

Minister for parliamentary affairs Sikandar Mandhro tabled Govt Bill No5/ 2015 Sindh Local Government (Amendment) Bill 2015 for consideration; however, MQM lawmakers said they had some reservations and want to settle them if the speaker give them time of 15 minutes to discuss the issue in lobby. The speaker agreed and MQM, PPPP and PML-F leaders went to lobby. Meanwhile, the speaker allowed members to discuss their issues on points of order.

However, when the MQM, PPPP and PML-F leaders returned back, Minister for parliamentary affairs Sikandar Mandhro requested the speaker to differ the consideration of Govt Bill No5/ 2015 Sindh Local Government (Amendment) Bill 2015 to next day (Tuesday). The House passed his motion.

Statement of objects and reasons of Sindh Local Government (Amendment) Bill says that in order to implement the judgment of Honorable Apex Court, it has become necessary to make certain amendments; therefore, it is expedient to amend the Sindh Local Government Act, 2013, in the said Act. The Bill seeks to achieve the above object.
