Corruption also responsible for flood: JI

KARACHI: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Sindh chapter Dr Mairaj-ul-Huda Siddiqui said on Tuesday that due to corruption of rulers, the people in Pakistan have been facing the worst kind of floods.

He said Sindh government except issuing statements and advertisements is not helping the poor people. He said JI and its welfare wing Al-Khidmat are taking efforts to help flood-hit people in this critical situation.

He said if the government had repaired river embankments than people would not have to lose their houses, crops, cattle and other valuables.

He was expressing his views while visiting free medical camp formed in Pano Aqil and Ali Wahan, Soomro embankments in district Sukkur. During his visit, he disbursed food and medicines among the flood affectees. However, he instructed JI workers to take measures for establishing a tent city and take every possible step for flood affectees.

Siddiqui further said due to no proper maintenance of barrages, there are hurdles in smooth flowing of flood water. He said the people of Sindh are worried about due to flood, but the rulers of Sindh are busy in meetings in Dubai.

He appealed philanthropists to come forward to join hands with Al-Khidmat for helping flood affectees.
