Court awards 3 days remand of Ziaullah Afridi

Peshawar: The Ehtesab Commission Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday obtained 3 days physical remand of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Minister for Mines and Minerals Development Ziaullah Afridi from the Ehtesab Court on charges of misusing authority and allowing illegal mining in various areas.

The Ehtesab Commission produced the minister before the Ehtesab Court headed by Hayat Ali Shah. Prosecutor had requested the court to award 15 days remand of the accused as more time is required to record statements of different witnesses against the accused.

However after hearing arguments of both sides court awarded three days remand of the accused. Earlier the Ehtisab Commission had filed a reference with an Ehtesab court against provincial minister for mines and mineral development Ziaullah Afridi and three officers of the department over the alleged misuse of power for illegal appointments, transfers and postings. The reference was filed with Ehtesab judge Hayat Ali Shah by additional deputy prosecutor general Barrister Qazi Babar Irshad.

The prosecutor said that the four suspects had misused their office and made 90 illegal appointments, postings and transfers in the department.

It is to be mentioned here that the Ehtesab Commission on had arrested Ziaullah Afridi from his home in Peshawar on July 9th on charges of misusing hi powers and allowing illegal mining. Ziaullah Afridi was elected on the PTI ticket as Member Provincial Assembly from Peshawar.
