Court: (SC orders to combine petitions on MQM, PTI resignations)

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued notices to as many as 97 respondents including the prime minister, leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, National Assembly Speaker and others in a case pertaining to resignations of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers from the National Assembly.

The notices were issued by a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali during the hearing of different petitions regarding the PTI and MQM lawmakers’ resignations.

The petitions were filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) former Senator Zafar Ali Shah. During the hearing, the court ordered to club all the petitions as one case. Later, the hearing was adjourned for indefinite period.
