Crime investigation course being started from 8th May

KARACHI: On the directives of IG Sindh Iqbal Mehmood, a special course of crime investigation and intelligence collection is being started on 08th May 2014 at Police Training College (PTC) Saeedabad for officers and personnel of Special Branch, CID, and Crime Branch.

The aim of the course is to increase abilities of police in making investigation and ensuring effective proactive policing. DIG Training Azhar Rasheed said this in a meeting presided over by IGP Sindh.

Rasheed said that the course being started in PTC Saeedabad would comprise week period and complete in four phases, while two-day training of lecture classes for teachers had also been completed on Tuesday.

IGP Sindh reviewed in detail the performance of police regarding command and control centre in the meeting. He also told that a project was also being started for installation of more surveillance cameras. Under this project, cameras would be installed at new selected points.

“Cameras have been installed in 87 mobile vans, while steps are also being taken to install cameras in other vans as well. Meanwhile, all the mobile vans would be directly connected to command and control centre of central police office,” the meeting was told.

It was also told in the meeting that survey of Madadgar 15 was completed and those centers where infrastructure was present were being activated while the relevant DIGs have provided allotted police force and logistic support to the disposal of the centers. According to which, the centers would start working very soon.

“Crime-mapping and analysis should be regularly performed so that the performance of police could be made effective and crime rooted out to save the life and property of people,” Mehmood concluded.
