’Decisive strategy’ ordered against encroachments

KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui on Wednesday directed officers of Anti-Encroachment Department, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), to regularly patrol in Saddar twice a day to save the area from re-encroachment and take strict action against reestablishment of encroachment in the city.

“Make a decisive strategy against encroachment to make the city a beautiful place,” the commissioner said in a meeting to review security and basic issues of common men in the city.

Additional Commissioner Karachi I Sibghatullah, Additional Commissioner II Haji Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner South Saleem Rajput, Deputy Commissioner Malir Qazi Jan Muhammad, Deputy Commissioner East Agha Pervez, Deputy Commissioner West Syed Muhammad Ali Shah, Additional Deputy Commissioner Central Maqsood Ahmed Qureshi, Deputy Commissioner Korangi Asif Jan Siddiqui, officers of Rangers Sindh, SSP anti-encroachment and Director Anti-encroachment Mazhar Khan were also present on the occasion.

Overall security of mosques, imam bargahs, churches and worshipping places of minorities were also discussed in detail.

“It is the duty of administration to fulfil the requirements of the citizens and resolve their issues. Laws about people’s rights and their service should be practiced,” said Siddiqui.

The meeting decided that the lands of parks and playgrounds being retrieved by the government should be improved. The encroachment being obstacle in the way of traffic would be removed on priority.

The deputy commissioners in the meeting told the measures taken in their jurisdiction against wall-chalking, encroachments and to bring improvement in the areas.

The meeting also decided that deputy commissioners should strengthen coordination with traffic police for the easy flow of traffic.
