Karachi: Pasban Karachi Chapter on Thursday staged a protest demonstration against Spencer Eye Hospital administration over sheer mismanagement in one of the oldest eye care hospital of Asia.
A large number of local residents and Pasban workers led by its Karachi chapter Vice-President Akram Agrya, Abid Baloch, Ejaz Baloch, Amjad Baloch and Aamir Jamal staged the protest demonstration against poor states of affairs at the hospital, outside the Spencer Eye Hospital Karachi located in Lee Market area of Saddar Town.
Addressing the protesters Akram Agrya said Spencer Eye Hospital established in 1940 was at verge of collapse due to the mismanagement of administration. He said poor patients have been deprived medicines and treatment despite annual allocation of Rs.140 million budget for the hospital.
He said people are compelled to buy medicines from private medical stores as no medicines are available in the hospital. He said ambulances and other vehicles are lying out of order in the hospital.
He demanded of the Sindh Government, Health Minister and Commissioner Karachi to order a proper inquiry into the misuses of funds in this hospital and remove its administration from their posts.
