Demo held against gas shortage

KARACHI: Industrialists of S.I.T.E Association of Industry (SAI) in Karachi staged a protest at SSGCL Office, Karachi on Monday against severe shortage of gas and continuing low pressure of gas.

The protest was led by President SAI Mohammad Jawed Bilwani. The industrialists accompanied by huge numbers of workers of SITE Industrial Area participated in the protest.

“Protesters holding black flags and placards called for resuming proper and adequate gas supply without any interruption. The pressure of gas provided to the industries has been considerably low from the past several days that has halted work at the industries. The gas supply was cut short for 13 days in January and 46 days since October 1, 2014,” said Mohammad Jawed Bilwani President SAI.

Despite the fact that the Sindh province produces 72% of natural gas, the SITE Industries are starving of gas which is a great dilemma and step motherly treatment towards SITE Industrial Area, specially because of the fact that they are largest foreign exchange earner in this Metropolitan City – Karachi.
