Demo held against stagnant rain-water in Shikarpur

Shikarpur: Residents of Shikarpur city on Tuesday held a protest demonstration against city administration for its failure to remove rain-water that is stagnant for many days.

The protestors carrying placards and banners shouted slogans against the administration and Nisasic organization, a contracting firm for cleanliness, for their failure in cleansing the city in proper way.

Talking to media persons, protestors said despite passage of 20 days after monsoon rains, the administration was unable to take reliable steps. They said the rain-water is still stagnant in major areas of the city as a result, the residence face trouble to go outside their homes. They said children also face hardships when they go to schools.

They said in some areas like Sports Complex, Eidgah, Kiri Nawab Khan, Noor Shah Muhallah, Anaj Mandi, about two-feet deep water is still stagnant.

They claimed that Nisasic is involved in record corruption in account of cleanliness schemes in Shikarpur. The protestors said the administration had ruined the city, which was known as the city of Paris in the past.

They said that they are facing threats from authorities for raising voice against administration negligence.

The protest was led by Agha Asad Pathan, Shujauddin Pathan and Abdul Haq Bharchoond. They warned that if their demands are not met, a sit-in will be staged outside the DC office.
