’Derailing of Karachi peace not acceptable’

Karachi: Pasban e Pakistan President Altaf Shakoor has said derailing of Karachi peace is not acceptable, as the future of whole country is linked to peace and tranquillity in this mega port city.

Addressing a meeting at the Central Secretariat of Pasban here he said that progress, prosperity, peace, stability, defence and welfare of the people of Pakistan should be the central agenda of all political parties.

He said making Pakistan a welfare state is our aim. He said for the sake of peace in Karachi we are dealing the issue of the arrest of Usman Moazzam with utmost care and calmness. He said 15 days have already passed of the rangers’ raid on the residence of Usman Moazzam; however, still his arrest is not officially accepted.

He said those people who know Usman Moazzam closely would witness that he is an honest and candid person. His services for peace in Karachi are beyond any doubt. He said we have adopted the legal way for recovery of Usman Moazzam. He said if there is any complaint against Usman Moazzam on the basis of any misunderstanding, he should be presented before the court of law; otherwise, he should be released without further delay. Talking about the local bodies’ elections he said young people would be given a chance in these elections. He asked the Pasban workers to start preparations for the coming local bodies’ elections.

Pasban senior vice president Eng. Aftabuddin Qureshi on the occasion said Pasban was the pioneer in demanding that Karachi should be made a separate province on administrative basis. He said the provinces of Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan and KpK have got a historical identity. However, in all these provinces new administrative provincial units should be established to facilitate people. He said our demand to make Karachi a new administrative province has nothing to do with ethnicity. He said Pasban has a long history of serving Karachi and its people and we would continue this struggle. He said we have formally written to the government and security agencies to meet with Pasban representatives regarding the issue of arrest of Usman Moazzam.

Pasban Local Bodies Committee member Jawad Iqbal Sheerazi on the occasion distributed forms regarding candidature of local bodies’ elections and asked the Pasban leaders to gather detailed particulars of their candidates.

On the occasion, Pasban Local Bodies Committee was extended by admitting Atiqur Rehman from Gadap Town, Umaid Ali Qazi from Surjani Town, and Ishtiaq Shah from Quaidabad, and Qamar Bhai from Korangi.

Pasban Karachi president Sheikh Mohammad Shakeel, Sardar Zulfiqar, Akram Agaria, Zafar Iqbal, Amjad Baloch, Rao Mohammad Yaseen, Mam Abbas Baloch and other leaders were present.
