KARACHI: A 16-member delegation of the peace activists would arrive in Lahore via Wagah on Tuesday to take part in the Didi Nirmala Deshpande Memorial Seminar and South Asia Peace & Justice Award ceremony to be held in Lahore on the same day afternoon.
According to the information available here by organizers on Monday, the Indian delegation have received the visas from Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi and they would include Ambika Choudhary, Abudi Rashid Shaheen, Ramesh Kumar Yadev, Sunila Dhillon, Pushpendra Kumar Kulshreshtha and others.
The award was established in 2013 and its first recipient was Karamat Ali of PILER Pakistan, who received it in a ceremony at Patiala in India last year. It was decided at that meeting that the next award distribution ceremony would be held in Lahore. For the year 2014. Indian peace activist Ramesh Yadav has been nominated to receive this award. Ms Asma Jehangir would hand over the award to him.
The topic of the seminar is “Towards a People’s Union of South Asia (PUSA) – Problems and Prospects”. Prominent speakers included Muhammad Tahseen, Karamat Ali, BM Kutty and speakers from India.
