Diplomatic (British High Commission launches ‘GREAT DEBATE’ competition)

Islamabad: The British High Commission in Pakistan launched the Great Debate competition nationwide on Tuesday and the competition invites university students from across Pakistan to showcase their talents on the art of public speaking– a skill essential towards their development and future careers.

It is also an opportunity to celebrate and promote the UK and Pakistan’s shared culture of vibrant discussion and intellectual debate.

The theme for the debate competition is Pakistan 2047. The topics, inspired by the theme, aim to have the future leaders of Pakistan discuss key areas that can impact the modern Pakistan of 2047.

The Great Debate competition will take place in 12 key cities of Pakistan from where 12 winners will then move to the grand final where the winner of the Great Debate competition will be announced and be awarded with the British High Commission Scholarship.

Students from universities across the country are invited to register on the website: www.greatdebate.com.pk. The grand finale of the Great Debate competition will be judged by a panel of experts.

It will be a wonderful opportunity to hear Pakistan’s youth debate the nation’s future. Debating is a unique art and a cornerstone of development – preparing an individual for their life as a potential future leader of Pakistan.

“I am sure that the debaters will take this opportunity to showcase the vision of the next generation of how to achieve a better future for Pakistan.
