KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said on Wednesday human and property losses could be minimized by utilizing protective measures and precautions on the eve of natural disasters and earthquakes.
He said that in the situations of disasters and earthquakes, connections of water, electricity and gas should be disconnected while consciousness shown. “Let not be too hurry of any kind, go out of home immediately or take refuge beneath the table, stair, or stand mid of the door.”
He was talking to media after leading a walk on Mazar-e-Quaid, held by earthquake awareness group comprising more than 60 rescue organizations formed at commissioner office.
Around 800 children of government, semi government, private schools, civil defence department, rescue 1299, scouts, girls guide & other institutes, officers who work regarding rescue, in addition to respectable personalities of city, industrialists and representatives of traders participated in the walk, which started from People’s Chowrangi and concluded at Mazar-e-Quaid.
On this occasion, Siddiqui along with participants of walk laid floral wreath on the mazar of Quaid and prayed for peace, stability, safety, brotherhood, development of the country and unity among Muslims.
Before this, a band sang national songs and presented lyric of national anthem to which children and other participants enjoyed.
During walk, rescue 1299, JDC welfare organization and Fire Protection Association of Pakistan distributed pamphlets mentioning information regarding protective measures during the disasters and earthquakes.
