District: (Butchers selling unhygienic meat going unchecked)

SIALKOT: The butchers are selling unhygienic meat and beef in their shops located in almost all the congested areas in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur cities and the surrounding areas with the alleged malpractice of concerned officials of Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs) and Sialkot health deportment.

This practice goes unabated and still remains unchecked due to which the people have been suffering from several fatal diseases especially the stomach, belly, blood pressure and hepatitis.

During a special survey conducted by the local newsmen, several people said that most of the butchers slaughter the animals which were found on death point (nearly dead), besides, selling the watered mutton and beef for increasing the weight of the meat.

According to medical experts, the meat absorbs water to great extent and the meat becomes unhygienic through this way. They said that unabated and unchecked large scale sale and use of the watered meat was rapidly spreading the Hepatitis and other fatal diseases among the people.

People further told the newsmen that butchers were often found slaughtering the animals in their houses or around their shops instead of slaughtering the animals in local slaughter houses in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial, Pasrur, Chawinda , Badiana and surrounding areas with the alleged malpractice of concerned officials of the respective TMAs and Sialkot health department.

They said they had brought this nasty practice repeatedly into the notice of the TMAs and Sialkot health department, but all went in vain and they still remain unable to take any action against the butchers involved in this regard in the larger interest of the public.

Local social, religious and political circles have urged the Punjab Chief Minister, Commissioner Gujranwala Division and Sialkot DCO to take strict notice against these people.
