ABBOTTABAD: “Quality is key for sustainable development and education should be for life and not for examination”, said Roland K Jahnke, Chairman International Academy for Quality Germany here on Sunday.
He said this while speaking as guest speaker at the two-day National Convention of Student Quality Circle organized by the EQUIP (Empowerment Through Quality Education ,Innovation and Productivity) -Pakistan at Modernage School.
In a two days convention, teams of more than 40 schools from all over the country took part in the case study presentation, story forming competition, debate, paper presentation and quiz competition alognwith at least 50 renowned personalities from academia.
Among speakers were Ariyasiri Kalupahana, Assistant Director Foreign Affairs Sri Lanka ,Brig: General M Mofizur Rehman (Bangla Desh), Hassan Arif from Packages Lahore, Dr.Ghulam Qasim Marwat from EQUIP, Mr.BDWK Karunarthna (Sri Lanka), Mrs.Sumera Wahid (Modernage), Ms.Atika Slam Executive Director EQUIP and Wahid Siraj Mir, Director General EQUIP.
Roland said that learning today for sustainable future is the basic motto of the IAQ for which he is travelling all over the world following the UNESCO World Conference held in Japan in 2014 with the aim to generate future campaigns of the new Global Action Program.
In his detailed presentation ,he gave new directions to the participants in the field of education for sustainable development and said that our target area’s are not only kids or school going students but we are focusing our attention on higher education also with the deep involvement of faculty which is a very challenging task.
Education especially the curriculam is taken as direction and our aim should be “Development” in every field either it is health or socio- economic etc sector, he said.
Mr Roland said that for the abilities and capabilities to develop leadership qualities, we all had to move forward collectively. He showed complete confidence on the Pakistani youth especially school going students who had find the path by joining the SQC (Students Quality Circle).
German Education expert who is closely associated with the UK, US and different European countries, said that they are in the process of compilation of purposeful syllabus for students to face the bigger challenges in coming 15 years and are also changing the methodology to teach the students in the light of UNESCO program.
Wahid Mir said that EQUIP in Pakistan is on effort to re-design the syllabus of the schools and colleges according to need basis compatible with the world as change can be only made through class room and not by just slogans.
He added that SQC is a truth and the best forum for students to exhibit their capabilities through their conduct and enviable results which they perform with innovative ideas.
Speakers further said that in Asia, Pakistan can get benefits from the Sri Lankan education system and also from other negheiouber countries where every one is trained and groomed to take part in the national affairs which badly needed by Pakistan and it is need of the hour that our youth and kids to be taught what we can implement in practical life in future.
On the concluding day, gifts and souvenir were distributed among the successful teams and students of different schools and colleges.
