District: (JIT conducts probe into Sialkot police highhandedness)

SIALKOT: On the special directives of the Punjab Chief Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif, a three member special joint investigation team (JIT) reached Sialkot on Saturday and conducted detailed inquiry into the nasty matter of brutal police baton charge on the newly elected vice chairman of Model Town Sialkot Malik Azmat Ullah and dozens of the local PML-N activists and implicating them into case of police encounter, stone hurling on police etc.

Rana Maqbool Ahmed (Special Assistant to Punjab CM) led this joint investigating team, which listened the public complaints against police at Jinnah Hall Sialkot Fort, besides, recording the statements of the dozens of the people and women including Riazud Din Sheikh (Group Leader of Sialkot business community), Dr. Nouman Idrees butt (former President of Sialkot Chamber of commerce and Industry), Mian Mohammad Jehangir (newly elected Chairman union council Model Town Sialkot), Azmat Ullah Malik (vice chairman UC Model Town) and Mian Suhail Iqbal about the above-mentioned incident.

While recording their statements before the JIT, the local people demanded stern legal action against the Sialkot District police Officer (DPO) Rai Ejaz Ahmed and other police officials and registration of cases against them for implicating the Azmat Ullah Malik (newly elected PML-N vice chairman and other local PML-N activists into false henious natured cases.

The JIT was also told that on December 05,2015, Mian Mohammad Jehangir ,Azmat Ullah Malik( the PML-N chairman and vice chairman of UC Model Town Sialkot), with the local newly elected general councilors and other PML-N activists were coming to their liaison office in Model Town Sialkot on December 05,2015 after winning the LB polls , when the Sialkot DPO Rai Ejaz Ahmed and other police officials halted them on them way to their liaison office, exchanged harsh words and threatened them with dire consequences.

Later, the DPO Sialkot Rai Ejaz Ahmed and other police officials also stormed into the said liaison office of the PML-N in Model Town Sialkot and brutally baton charged Azmat Ullah Malik (newly elected PML-N UC vice chairman). Several general councilors and other PML-N activists there and injured them there with baton charge.

The DPO took Azmat Ullah Malik and eleven other persons including several general councilors from there and implicated them into police encounter, attack on police, spreading terrorism and other heinous natured cases.

The JIT, including Rana Maqbool Ahmed (Special Assistant to Punjab CM), Faisal Shahkar (Additional Inspector General Special Branch Punjab) and Afzaal Mehmood Butt (Senior Superintendent of Police) also visited the spot Model Town Sialkot where this nasty incident occurred on December 05, 2015 after the LB polls. The JIT will soon present its inquiry report to Punjab Chief Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif for further action, in this regard. Punjab CM had taken very serious notice of Sialkot police this highhandedness.
