District: (Pakistani journalist to contest AIPS (Asia) election)

ABBOTTABAD: Noted Sports Journalists and resident editor of National Daily at Peshawar Amjad Aziz Malik will contest the election of General Secretary of Asian Sports Writers Association to be held in February 2016.

AIPS (Asia) is the only sports body of 42 Asian members countries and election for the supreme body of the association is held after four year and this time election will held at Doha (Qatar) in February 2016 and it will be for the first time in the history of AIPS and Pakistan that a Pakistani Journalist is contesting election for the main seat.

Amjad Aziz Malik who had started his career from cricket magazine “Akhbar-e- Watan” in 1982 and later joined local daily “Jiddat” as sports editor in 1985.

He had worked as sports reporter for Daily “Jang” Peshawar from 1986 to 2002. He was switched to “Geo” in 2002 and remained there till 2012. He joined daily Express Peshawar as Resident Editor in 2013 and is still working with the paper.

He is first sports journalist from KP who had written 8 books on sports and also remained editor of different sports magazines including Sunday Sports.

Amjad became president of Pakistan Sports Writers Federation in 2009 and made functional the supreme body of sports journalists after laps of 12 years and got renewed the affiliation of PSWF with AIPS (Italy).
