SIALKOT: Sialkot police have arrested three notorious proclaimed offenders (POs) Shehzad alias Shazi and Khawar Iqbal alias Arif, bearing head money of Rs. 0.4 million each announced by the Punjab government.
Sialkot District Police Officer (DPO) Dr. Shehzad Asif Khan disclosed this while talking to the newsmen at his office here on Wednesday. SP(Investigation) Sialkot Irfan Tariq Khan and senior member Sialkot District Peace Committee Zafar Malik were also present on this occasion.
The DPO revealed that the newsmen that the accused were a sign of terror in the region and wanted by police in more than two dozen cases of murder, dacoity, robbery and kidnapping.
Police have also arrested another notorious proclaimed offender (PO) Mukhtar Ahmed alias Lala resident of village Chhjowal-Chak Amro (Narowal district). He was wanted by police in more than one dozen cases of henious natured including kidnapping for ransom, dacoity and murder since 2005, DPO added.
Meanwhile, the Sialkot police have arrested as many as 628 notorious proclaimed offenders (POs) including two dangerous POs bearing Rs. 0.4 million each head money, besides recovering the stolen and snatched valuables including 79 motorcycles , 6 cars, cattle, electronics, cash and other valuables (worth of Rs. 35 million) during the first three months of the running year.
DPO added that the Sialkot district police also smashed as many as 30 well-organized inter-district gangs of dacoits and arrested as many as 122 dangerous members of these gangs, as their arrest helped Sialkot police to trace out 135 henious natured old cases.
DPO Dr. Shehzad Asif narrated that police also recovered as many as 16 illicit kalashankoves, 72 guns, 91 different kinds rifles, 477 pistols, 14 revolvers, 9 carbines, 12 draggers and 8216 bullets from the criminals during a special campaign launched against them, besides, recovering 3.5 KGs heroin, 168 KGs Charas (worth millions of rupees), 2105 litters wine, unearthed as many as 27 working distilleries and sent 65 drunkard people behind the bars, in this regard. DPO also announced cash prizes and appreciation certificates for the raiding police parties.
