SIALKOT: All Pakistan Stainless Steel Importers Association (APSSIA) on Sunday demanded early start of train service between Sialkot Dry Port to Gujranwala for facilitating and enabling them to get the benefits of the train service by Pakistan Railways.
They said in such a way, they could avert other heavy transport charges of transporting the imported consignments between Sialkot Dry Port to Gujranwala as well as their damages.
Talking to newsmen here, Patron-in-Chief Haji Muhammad Anwar and President Ghulam Hussain of APSSIA said there was a big market of imported stainless steel in Gujranwala, which had been providing and supplying the imported stainless steel to the factories, industrial units and steel mills across Pakistan since 1983.
There were more than 250 importers, who had been importing stainless steel consignments, weighing 100,000 tons annually in Gujranwala, besides, paying billions of rupees in shape of annual customs duties, import duties and additional sales taxes, they added. They demanded early revival of train service between Sialkot Dry Port to Gujranwala for giving relief to the perturbed importers.
