Dost Mohammad takes charge as MS CMCH without notification

LARKANA: The Health Department Sindh could not post any BS-20 competent and honest officer as Medical Superintendent (MS) in proper way at Chandka Medical College Hospital, Larkana, since last 11 days to improve its performance.

Dr Safiullah Abbasi retired on July 31 as MS, but his replacement has not yet been ensured. He handed over charge to BS-19 general cadre doctor Dost Mohammad without notification by the health department, while he himself is retiring on August 15.

He has also managed to write his name as MS at serial No: 33 on the name board of MSes which too has raised questions as he has not yet been officially allowed to assume the charge as MS.

This largest 1400-bed hospital of upper Sindh is facing multifarious problems which are to Health Secretary Dr Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo who visit it regularly during his posting as Commissioner here, but he has so far taken low interest in resolving basic issues facing the healthcare.

Annual budget allocation under heads of POL, stationary, others, Sui gas, and gases is very low due to which their stock has ended up. As a result, officials and patients suffer badly. This hospital is also suffering acute shortage of latest computers for which authorities have been constantly informed to provide at least 50 computers along with printers and UPS systems, but nothing has been done as yet.

Over 15 vital diagnostic laboratory tests are not being conducted here since long due to non-availability of required kits and consumables which has seriously hit the poor patients.
