KARACHI: Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) organized a ceremony on Thursday at Arag Auditorium of Dow Medical College, Karachi to honour its retired professors and principals of Dow Medical College and Dow International Medical College (DIMC).
Dow University has started series of honouring its faculty members, and retired professors of all departments and senior professors.
Vice Chancellor, DUHS, Prof Masood Hameed Khan in his address acknowledged the efforts of its faculty members including head of the departments and professors in bringing change to medical education of the country. Paying rich tribute to his teachers, he urged juniors students to give due respect and regards to the teachers because they are the sources of inspirations. He said that teacher always tries to make its younger generation to be far better from others.
Later on, he recounted the progress of the University since its inception. He highlighted the developments since its inception. He informed that since the establishment of the University, it has produced 7382 undergraduates and 1190 postgraduate students in all specialties of medical and allied sciences.
He also informed about various courses, diploma programs at Dow University. The University since its inception has been aiming to provide maximum possible health services to the community through various ways. He also mentioned about the enrolment of students and research activities since the university inception.
Prof Salahuddin Afsar, Chairman, Curriculum Committee informed that to meet the international standard of medical education, the Dow University formed a curriculum committee having responsibility for creating, overseeing and managing the medical student education program and ensuring compliance with international standards.
Prof Junaid Ashraf, Principal, Dow Medical College in his address informed about the establishment of Dow Medical College. He said that it is one of the oldest and high class academic institutions of Pakistan.
Later, Prof. Salahuddin Afsar presented documented curriculum to Prof Masood Hameed Khan.
