Dozens rescued as building catches fire on Chundrigar Road

KARACHI: Dozens of people rescued unhurt from the Commerce Center building on I I Chundrigar Road after fire flared up on its fourth floor on Monday.

A fire department official, talking to PPI, could not tell the exact figure of the people rescued; however he said dozens of people were successfully rescued by the firefighters through ladders and snorkel. The fire had erupted on the fourth floor in the offices of legal firms due to unknown reason.

He further said the fire was extinguished after a struggle of three hours with the help of 10 fire tenders, a snorkel and a rescue vehicle. The cooling process was carried out for a couple of more hours so that the fire could not reemerge.

“The fire only damaged computers, papers and other stuff of little financial value.”
