Dr Asim wants his Canadian passport back

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and former petroleum minister, Dr Asim Hussain on Tuesday filed an application in Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) seeking his passport back.

Dr Asim’s lawyer Amir Raza Naqvi revealed that his client possesses dual nationality and his Canadian passport had been seized by Rangers with important documents.

The court, however, did not pass any order of the application and adjourned the hearing till 30th January 2016.

Former petroleum minister is currently in National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) custody on corruption charges and was arrested by the Rangers on 26th August 2015 when he was serving as chairman of Sindh’s Higher Education Commission.

After taking Dr Asim for 90 days, the Rangers handed over him to police in a case pertaining to treating terrorists in Ziauddin hospital, owned by him.
