Drive against illegal marriage halls halted

Karachi: Operators of illegal marriage halls and lawns set up on amenity plots in Karachi have heaved a sigh of relief as the drive to raze these illegal structures came to standstill in Karachi.

Sources said due to rising political pressure the drive against illegal marriage halls was halted in the city. Many illegal marriage lawns that were previously closed and made non-functional are doing their roaring business again in the city.

Sources said still there are dozens of illegal marriage halls and lawns in the city besides hundreds of other illegal encroachments on amenity plots. However, for the reasons better known to the high-ups of provincial government, the drive against these illegal encroachments seem to be halted.
