ECP: (No consideration of EC members’ resignation: spokesperson)

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) spokesperson on Monday clarified that the demand of the political parties regarding resignations of the members of the election commission is not under consideration.

Talking to official media, he said ECP was not considering resignation matter in its meeting. It may be mentioned here that the different political parties including the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, the Pakistan People’s Party and the Pakistan Muslim League-Q demanded resignations of the provincial EC members after irregularities were found in some constituencies during the 2013 general elections.

The leadership of the opposition parties demanded that the new members of the ECP be appointed after consultation with them once the existing members step down.
