Effective redressal of public grievances stressed

LARKANA: The Secretary, Prime Minister’s Public Affairs & Grievances Wing, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Pakistan, Manzoor Ali Khan, has written a letter to the Sindh Chief Secretary for effective system for accountability & redressal of public grievances.

The Secretary said in his letter that Government’s resolve for establishment of good governance and improvement in service delivery in order to provide quick relief is evinced by the Prime Minister’s determination for strengthening of public affairs & grievances wing. The success of this initiative depends upon systematic and timely response to the petitioners against their genuine grievances.

The letter adds “But it has been observed with great concern that poor response and uncompromising behaviour of relevant quarters especially police and other departments through inordinate delay, partial replies at times biased reports submitted to this office are the major factors hampering achievement of the objective”.

The above position warrants, the letter added, for personal intervention of the heads of divisions/organizations/departments to look into the system of grievances processing and assign top priority to genuine petitions addressed to the Prime Minister, referred to by this office, within due time by observing merit, to improve the service delivery through public partnership by ensuring the due redressal of their grievances. SGA&C Department of Sindh has circulated this letter for implementation.
