KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui presided over a meeting which decided to establish five cattle markets in different areas of the metropolis on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
The main cattle market will be established on Super Highway and others in Mawach Goth, Hub River Road near Hamdard University, Asoo Goth in Malir and Cattle Colony in Landhi. The Cantonment Board, Malir and Karachi Municipal Committees will make arrangements and handle affair relating to the markets.
Station Commander Malir Brigadier Talat Mehmood Janjooa and other relevant officers were also present at the meeting. It was decided that there would be ban on sale and purchase of cattle outside of these markets and in this regard section 144 would be implemented.
It was also decided in the meeting that the main cattle market would be established at six acres of area, while cattle entering the city would not be taxed. No fee would be charged on parking and security of vehicles in cattle market.
It was instructed to ensure removal of illegal cattle markets and take better steps for security of cattle and their health.
