Eight killed, several injured in Lahore blast

LAHORE: Eight people were killed and several others injured in a powerful explosion outside Police Lines in Lahore on Tuesday.

More deaths and injuries from the explosion are feared. The site of the explosion is located near the headquarters of Pakistan Railways. The blast damaged several vehicle parked in the area. Four vehicles were gutted in the fire. Heavy smoke emitted from the blast. The bodies and injured were rushed to Mayo and Ganga Ram hospitals for medico-legal formalities and treatment. Emergency was declared in the hospitals across Lahore.

Firebrigade vehicles also reached the area and extingushed the fire. The blast was so powerful that also damaged windowpanes of nearby buildings. The police fired shots soon after the explosion.

Panic gripped the area. Heavy contingents of law enforcement agencies personnel rushed to the scene and took the area under control. Bomb Disposal Squad also rushed to the scene and started search operation.
