Eight ‘TTP men’ remanded to police

KARACHI: An Anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday remanded eight alleged activists of banned outfit Tehreek-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to police custody till 24 March 2015 in an explosive substance case.

Police produced Mohammad Javaid, Jahangir, Ateeq Ahmed, Mohammad Laeeq, Ali Rehman, Umair Gul, Ayyanullah and Shafiq Ahmed before the ATC judge under tight security.

The investigation officer Inspector Syed Waqar Ali requested that the police needed their physical custody to trace their connections and other criminal activities. The court accepted the police request and remanded the accused to their custody till 24th March.

According to prosecution, the Counter Terrorism Department arrested all the accused on 9th March near Ittehad Town and recovered 25-kilogram explosives material from their possession.
