Encroachments removed around Zainab Market

KARACHI: On the directive of Administrator Karachi Saqib Ahmed Soomro, anti-encroachment department of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) cleared encroachments around Zainab Market, Rex Market and Daudpota Road on Tuesday.

Many kiosks, cabin shops, pushcarts, iron-made counters and other encroachments were removed and footpath was cleared for pedestrians and flow of vehicular traffic made easy.

Director Anti-Encroachment Mazhar Khan, Assistant Director Noman Ahmed, policemen of KMC and other staff members were also present during the operation.

Khan said a large number of people regularly visit the area for shopping; therefore, all the encroachments were removed to facilitate citizens and clean the area.

The administrator said the anti-encroachment operation would continue until the complete removal of encroachments from the city.

He said the encroachments not only affect beauty of the city but also create problems for the citizens. He warned encroachers to refrain from reestablishing encroachments otherwise they would have to bear heavy financial loss.

“Steps were being taken for easy flow of traffic and providing parking facility in Saddar,” he said.
