ISLAMABAD: Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations Dr Maleeha Lodhi has urged world community for urgent action to deal with the growing crisis of forced migration.
Addressing as President of the UNICEF’s Executive Board in its second regular session in New York on Wednesday, she pointed out that half the world’s refugees today are children.
She also made an impassioned plea to the world community to live up to its responsibilities to address desperate situations in which children were principal victims. She described global refugee crisis as a humanitarian catastrophe in which the suffering of children was unprecedented.
She said that Post-2015 agenda of the UN seeks to end extreme poverty, equitably promote prosperity and well-being for the peoples, besides protecting environment for ourselves and future generations.
