Ex-MS CMCH booked in corruption case

LARKANA: The Circle Officer, Anti-Corruption Establishment, Larkana, Inspector Mohammad Paryal Morio, has registered another FIR against ex-Medical Superintendent of Chandka Medical College Hospital, Larkana, Dr. Safiullah Abbasi and others, alleging therein that budget amounting to Rs308,848,000 was granted in 2014-15 by government for purchase of various machineries and equipment for installation in various wards including urology, dental department, skin disease and Shaikh Zayed Women Hospital Larkana.

The ex-MS being Project Director of Development Schemes called tenders and contracts were given to the bidders through procurement committee approved by Health Secretary. The FIR further mentioned that accused Dr. Abbasi in collusion with Dr. Aijaz Shaikh AMS (Stores) and Lateef Shaikh (senior store keeper) and contractor Sajid of M/S Quantum Medical Technologies made payment to the contractor Sajid of Rs14,110,819 on 17.6.2015 but contractor even after lapse of six months not supplied machinery and equipment for which he was given contract viz. dream light photography, microscopy system etc.

Accused Dr. Abbasi, Dr. Shaikh and Lateef Shaikh passed the bills of contractor illegally and made payment to the accused contractor without receiving government machinery. All the accused appeared before Anti-Corruption Court, Larkana on Thursday for interim bail which was granted in the sum of Rs one million to each. They will again appear on January 19 for confirmation of the bail.
