FAPUASA to observe Black Day in Sindh’s all universities

KARACHI: In protest against direct appointments on the posts of Registrar and Controllers of Examinations in Sindh’s all universities, the Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) will observe a Black Day in all the universities on August 5, 2015.

Talking to PPI on Tuesday, FAPUASA Sindh’s President Prof Dr Ayaz Ali Keerio said that the Sindh government should withdraw its decision of making appointments on the posts of Registrar and Controllers of Examinations, bypassing the autonomous universities’ laws. He showed concern that they had issued two-week ultimatum few days back to the Sindh government to reconsider its decision and to hold table talks for resolving the issue, but no one on the behalf of the government has yet responded.

Ayaz said the posts of Registrar and Controllers of Examinations have great importance in the universities; therefore, these posts should not be filled without rules and regulations of the universities. He said there should be some requirements for these posts so that one can handle research institutions as per the higher education commission.

He said FAPUASA would arrange a meeting with all universities’ associations to plan future strategies for resolving the issue.
