KARACHI: Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhtar Farooqui has directed the administration of Spencer Eye Hospital to make short and long term planning to resolve the problems being encountered by the hospital and restore it into its original form.
On a visit to the hospital in Lyari on Tuesday, Farooqui took strict notice of the non-provision of medicines, lenses and other medical equipments to the hospital since last two years which caused problems for patients.
During a briefing, Farooqui was informed that 20 doctors and 150 paramedics were offering their services to the hospital. Around 250 patients visited the OPD and surgeries of more than 20 people were also being conducted on daily basis. Senior Director Health Dr Salma Kausar, MS Spencer Eye Hospital and other doctors were also present on the occasion.
“This hospital used to be a top eye hospital not only in this region but throughout the country also. The teams from this hospital went to other areas like Balochistan for providing medical treatment to patients,” the administrator said.
He said it was really sad to see this hospital in such a condition. He also instructed to submit the report of two months expenditures in the current financial year so that necessary working on it could be started immediately.
