FBR notifies handing over of promotion powers to commissioners

Lahore: The FEDERAL BOARD OF REVENUE has announced to hand over power of promotions of grade 14-16 employees to chief commissioners as well as collectors in the field offices. The notification in this regard has been issued today (Friday).

FBR Union was struggling for this power delegation from the head office to the field offices and the union delegations, in the lead of its central president MIAN ABDUL QAYYUM, held several meetings with various high officials on the issue of power delegation to the field offices from the head office.

Due to delay of this power delegation a lot of other promotions were pending for the last two years.

FBR UNION PRESIDENT MIAN QAYYUUM greeted the FBR employees and hailed the services of Chairman TARIQ BAJWA, Member Tax Policy SHAHID HUSSAIN ASSAD, Member Admin SHAHID JATOI and Chief Management DR. BASHIRULLAH for taking workers friendly decision and resolving the longstanding issue of the tax department.

The decision will enhance the performance of workers besides lessening burden of staff of head office.

The customs officials, who are working at far flung border offices of TOORKHUM and CHAMAN, will really benefit from this decision, as they will not have to visit Islamabad again and again for their promotions. “We appreciate particularly the role of Member Tax Policy SHAHID HUSSAIN ASSAD, to get this issue resolved in the benefit of FBR employees,” union leader asserted.

MIAN QAYYUM, on this occasion, reminded the authorities to also activate FBR Foundation, besides announcing a promotion policy for lower staff. The department should devise a policy to promote class four staff in line with the up-gradation of officers who are promoted automatically after some period.

Majority of the lower staff is working in the same cadre for 20 to 25 years as there is no policy for their promotion.

“We shall appreciate and further strengthen our liaison with higher authorities to improve revenue if they also consider constituting a policy in this regard.”
