Federal minister calls on governor

KARACHI: Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad met with the federal minister for religious affairs, Sardar Mohammad Yousuf, in his here office on Saturday and discussed different matters including registration of seminary schools.

In the meeting it was discussed that harmony and unity should be assured between the followers of different religions and Islam’s different schools of thought.

Talking on the occasion, Ebad said that registration process of seminary schools is being continued in the province and its positive impacts have started to come.

Governor said that many measures have already been taken in Sindh to enhance cohesion between different schools of thought including arranging meetings between their scholars. “In these meetings, scholars were requested to educate their followers to bear spirit of tolerance and promote harmony. The impacts of those meetings have come in positive manner,” Ebad added.

Yousuf said that the federal government is working on urgent basis to promote cohesion between different religions. “In the past government did not work to raise harmony between the religions and Islam’s different sect which caused a lot of issues,” he added.
