KARACHI: Finnish Roving Ambassador to Pakistan inks agreement with Marie Stopes Society to fund a project addressing reproductive health needs of urban women in Karachi.
The Finnish Roving Ambassador to Pakistan, Rauli Suikkanen and the Country Director of Marie Stopes Society Dr. Mohsina Bilgrami signed an agreement here in Karachi.
Under this agreement, the Office of the Roving Ambassador of Finland to Pakistan will provide grant assistance to Marie Stopes Society to establish and operate one clinical center for two years under a project aimed to address unmet family planning needs of urban women in Karachi.
While welcoming the Ambassador and his team, Dr Mohsina Bilgrami thanked the Office of the Roving Ambassador to Pakistan for their generous support to the cause of family planning and reproductive health in Pakistan. She introduced the project, “Meeting Urban Women’s Unmet Need for Quality Family Planning and Reproductive Health Services,” highlighting the innovative approaches it will deploy to reach out to, and address the needs of, women and men in urban centers such as Karachi.
Rauli Suikkanen highlighted that Finland’s Official Development Assistance and Humanitarian Aid to Pakistan overall during the period 2010-2014 totals almost 25 million Euros. He explained that the Office of the Roving Ambassador would use resources marked under “Funds for Local Cooperation” to support Marie Stopes Society in the field of reproductive health.
