LARKANA: First Urogynae Clinic was inaugurated here on Wednesday by Deputy Commissioner Javed Jagirani. In this connection, a simple but impressive ceremony was organized in Urology Department’s Seminar Hall, which was largely attended by professors and doctors.
Dr. Fauzia Chandio, Assistant Professor of Gynaecology, has been appointed as its head as she specializes in treating Urogynae problems. While giving briefing Prof Malik Hussain Jalbani, Head of Urology Department, Chandka Medical College and Hospital, said that the requisite clinic is first of its kind in Sindh health sector throughout the province.
He said that as many as 35,000 patients visited urology department OPD during 2014, out of which only 3000 were admitted for various surgeries & treatment and as many as 3500 surgeries were performed in three operation theatres during the same period which are now outdated as the same were constructed in 1998 and no renovation has so far been carried out since then. He said that there are only, two wards for male & one for female patients having total bed strength of 36.
