Five killed in police encounters

KARACHI: Police claimed to have killed five alleged criminals in two different police encounters in Karachi in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The police raided in Kashti Chowk area, Lyari, and killed three alleged gangsters. Two of the dead criminals were later identified as Sumair Kuchal and Rashid alias Mulla.

Police sources claim that the dead criminals were involved in killing more than hundred citizens, including defunct People’s Aman Committee leader Zafar Baloch, while Sumair Kuchal was known to be a close aide of Baba Ladla.

The bodies were brought to Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

According to SSP City Fida Hussain Janwari, police encountered in jurisdiction of police station of Kharadar in which three terrorists of belonged to Baba Ladla group, including commander Sameer Keetchal who was the right hand of baba Ladla and involved in police killings including attack on Lee Market police picket last night. Sophisticated weapons were recovered from their possession.

In another encounter, Counter Terrorism Police raided a house in Toori Bungash area of Orangi Town where alleged criminals opened fire on the police personnel. However, two criminals were arrested in injured condition. They were being shifted to CHK but succumbed to their injuries.

Police sources claim that a huge cache of arms, explosive material and a motorcycle was recovered from their possession.
