Four profiteers jailed, 54 fined for overcharging

KARACHI: In a crackdown on profiteers in Karachi, 54 shopkeepers were charged with Rs 103,200 fine for selling commodities above official rates, while four others were jailed.

In the crackdown, 28 milkmen, 10 shopkeepers of general commodities, 12 chicken sellers, two vegetable sellers and two fruit sellers were fined for selling essential items at excessive prices, while four persons were sent to jail for continuous violation of official rates.
