Karachi: Spinners Ghulam Hussain and Arish Ali Khan shared seven wickets between them to help Bilal Friends Cricket Club record a convincing 73-run triumph against Shalimar Cricket Club in the opening match of All-Karachi Shareef Khan Memorial Festival Cricket Tournament here at Quaid-e-Azam Park Cricket Stadium in Steel Town.
The tournament is being organized in memory Shareef Khan, elder brother of Pakistan’s Test batsman Younus Khan.
Younus, during the opening ceremony of the tournament, thanked all the guests and organizers for organizing the event for the second time in memory of his late brother. Younus said that the heights he has achieved in life was due to the efforts of his brother Shareef Khan.
Bilal Friends CC batted first in the match and put on board 213 runs losing all of their wickets in 30 overs. Taimoor Ali batted well for the side scoring 66 47 balls. Waseem Ahmed made 38 off 27 balls. Mohammad Irfan and Mohammad Aqib took three wickets each.
In reply, Shalimar CC scored a paltry total of 140 runs before losing all of their wickets in 29.2 overs. Mohammad Irfan was the top scorer for the side scoring 29 runs. Ghulam Hussain captured a four-wicket haul while Arish Ali Khan took three for the victors in the match.
