Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan has said that he will personally raise the voices at all levels for the rights and interests of the tribal people who are patriotic and have had given great sacrifices for the protection and integrity of Pakistan.
He expressed these views while talking to the 15-member representative delegation of tribal elders from North Waziristan Agency who called on him here at Governor’s House, Peshawar on Thursday. Delegation was led by member National Assembly from North Waziristan Agency, Nazir Khan. Members of the delegation discussed with the Governor certain issues and problems of the people of the agency and presented their proposals to resolve their issues.
The Governor listened to their viewpoint and suggestions and assured them those demands would be addressed and their suggestions would be taken into consideration on priority.
The Governor said that to resolve the people’s problems, remove their grievances and improve the socio-economic condition of tribal people was one of the govt.’s priorities in FATA. However he added that lasting peace was the prerequisite for development in FATA.
On a point the Governor said that FATA Disaster Management Authority was also being activated and organized to solve the TDPs’ problems on priority. On the occasion, the Governor issued the directions to the Director General of FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) that the verification of TDPs from Speenwam Tehsil of North Waziristan Agency should be made soon. He ordered the relevant officials that steps should be taken to redress the grievances of the TDPs on priority.
He also directed the officials of FDMA that compensation amount should be given to the NADRA verified 7000 displaced families from Teerah area of Khyber agency and 4146 displaced families from South Waziristan Agency without delay adding that no compromise would be accepted in this regard.
While talking to the delegation, the Governor said the great sacrifices which the patriotic tribesmen and our security forces had rendered have not only restored peace in this region but also revived the state of peace in the entire country.
The government, he added was cognizant of the problems and grievances of the people and would provide them all out support, he assured. He said that the people of FATA had rendered valuable sacrifices of their lives and properties in the fight against terrorism and taking the pain of leaving their homes and hearths in search of peace and stability. Governor said restoration of peace, repatriation and rehabilitation of tribal people and improvement of infrastructure in Federal Administered Tribal areas was top priorities of the government.
He said solid steps were being taken to bring FATA into mainstream and to end poverty of the tribal people.
Governor lauded sacrifices of the tribesmen in eliminating militants and maintaining peace and said their sacrifices would be remembered with pride and dignity, adding the government was committed to improve living standard of tribesmen.
The members of the delegation also appreciated the efforts of the governor for the successful ongoing repatriation process in tribal areas and especially for the development of the agency and thanked to the governor for his support.
They also thanked the Governor for his positive response towards the delegation’s demands and suggestions and assured their full cooperation in his endeavors for peace and development in FATA.
