Govt announces to launch twelve-day campaign to safeguard children from Measles

Peshawar: To safeguard children from Measles is possible through vaccination, and for this purpose, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced to launch a twelve-day campaign, which will be commenced from 19th till 31th of the current month.

According to a press release issued here on Monday by District Health Officer (DHO) said that children from age of six months to ten years will be immunized to save them from the fatal disease of measles.

During the vaccination campaign, it informed that as per necessity, immunization for tetanus, Diphtheria, meningitis and other fatal diseases would be administered and 2.2million children including Afghan refugees would be immunized while all arrangements in this connection were being made with true spirit and letter.

In this regard, it further informed that fixed centers would be established in all 97 Union Councils (UCs) in District Peshawar and vaccination teams at special places would provide services regarding immunization to the children for twelve days in District Peshawar.

District Health Officer appealed Parents, Ulema-e-Kiram (Clerics), teachers, Civil Society, Education Department, Welfare Organisations and others to make it success by cooperating so that none of the children could be deprived of vaccination and eradicate measles.
