Karachi: Federal Minister for Ports & Shipping Kamran Michael has said that the government is fully committed to improve the shipping & logistics facilities in Pakistan to boost economy.
Addressing the 5th Professionals Shipping, Logistics & Supply Chain Management Conference & Exhibition, he accepted the deliberations, concerns and recommendations of the conference, which was told by the speakers shipping and logistics support services were in shambles in our country, infrastructure was in a dilapidated state and supply chain management depends on outsourcing.
The minister not only assured his support but also promised to redress the grievances of the business community. He said he would play his role in growth and development of warehousing and ports in the country.
The Conference was also attended by Vice Admiral Shafqat Javaid, Chairman KPT.

Ateeq Ur Rehman spoke of misplaced priorities and gross negligence in the shipping, logistics and warehousing industry of Pakistan. He requested the government to rid the supply chain management entrepreneurs from burden of indirect and withholding taxes. He suggested to reduce the custom duty on the import of pre-engineered building (Warehouse) and place it on zero rating, thus this will encourage the growth of warehousing in the country.
