ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said that the governmnet has set the target to achieve 6% growth rate till 2018.
Briefing the federal cabinet, which met here Thursday in the prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s chair, Ahsan Iqbal said that his ministry has focused on materializing the dream of Pakistan-China trade corridor.
Presenting progress of his ministry before the cabinet, he said his ministry since inception of the government focused on preparing Vision 2025, adding that Vision 2025 was finalized after consultation with all relevant quarters and analyzing the development plans of developed nations.
He said implementation of the Vision 2025 is key priority of his ministry and a Monitoring and Delivery Unit has been formed for this purpose. He said Planning Commission has been revived and staffed with top class human resource to materialize the government’s development goals.
He said the governmnet has helped save five hundred billion rupees during the last fifteen months because of better scrutiny of projects. He emphasized for enhancing development fund to gear up the growth rate as well as transfer the fruits of development to the common man.
He said Key Performance Indicators have been formed on institutional level. He said the governmnt is also working on civil service reforms, adding that it is a five step process and will be completed in three months.
